Research Notes on PTSD and GERD
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) caused by post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or stress is still a controversial topic. Some say that stress does not directly cause GERD but it can worsen the symptoms of patients with GERD. Stress can slow down the process of digestion therefore food remains in the stomach for a longer period of time increasing the occurrence of acid reflux.
