Research Notes on Osteoporosis and Broken Bones
Osteoporosis does not cause any symptoms, until you break a bone. Broken bones, especially those that happen after a fall while standing or walking, are frequently the first indications that you or a family member has osteoporosis. If someone in your family has sustained fractures, especially of the hip, spine, or wrist, this may indicate that you have an inherited risk of developing osteoporosis.
