Research Notes on Osteoporosis Exercises for Women
Exercise has been known to either maintain or increase bone mineral density in postmenopausal women. Regular jumping exercises seem to increase the bone mineral density of the proximal tibia. Strength training exercises seem to increase the bone mineral density in the radius and the hip.1
Fast Facts:
- Exercises that increase the bone mineral density in the L2-L4 region of the back include treadmill walking and stepping.1
- Gymnastic training can also increase bone density.1
- Endurance training may also be helpful.1
