OrganizedWisdom was founded in 2006 by Steven Krein and Unity Stoakes who have worked together building Internet companies for over 10 years. We have worked hard to build an A-Team of executives and managers who can help us build a service that will help millions of people. We have assembled a world-class team of innovators, health professionals, investors and experienced technology leaders to help organize the world's health wisdom. In addition to our full-time staff, we have hundreds of Part-Time Guides, Health Advocates and Physician Reviewers who have joined our Guide Program to help create and update WisdomCards.

Steven Krein

Steven H. Krein Co-founder and CEO

Steve is the Co-founder and CEO of OrganizedWisdom Health. Steve, a serial entrepreneur, was the co-founder, Chairman and CEO of the first Internet promotion and technology company, Promotions.com, which was founded in 1996, went public on Nasdaq in 1999 and was acquired by iVillage in 2002. Steve worked briefly at iVillage as a senior executive before founding Transformation Ventures, where he created and coached entrepreneurs on The 10 Laws of Creating Equity Value™. Steve was also Assistant Publisher of the first Internet service for lawyers, Law.com, which was founded in 1994 as Law Journal Extra! and subsequently acquired by American Lawyer Media. Steve is a frequent speaker on entrepreneurism and health-focused social media, and has been featured on The Today Show, CNN, the Fox News Channel, CNBC Power Lunch, CNBC Marketwatch and Bloomberg News. Steve received his J.D. degree from Widener University School of Law and his B.A. degree from the University of Maryland College Park. Steve is a Member and Board Member of YPO (the Young President's Organization) Metro New York Chapter and lives in New York City with his wife and three daughters.

Unity Stoakes

Unity Stoakes Co-founder and President

Unity is the Co-founder and President of OrganizedWisdom Health. Unity, a serial entrepreneur, is a frequent speaker and blogger on Health 2.0 issues, social media and Internet trends and is a long-time advocate for helping people get better access to health information and services. Unity has worked with Steven Krein for over a decade building businesses. Prior to OrganizedWisdom, Unity helped build several companies including Promotions.com where he served as the Chief Marketing Officer, Transformation Ventures, The Privacy Council and Middleberg Interactive. He received his bachelor's degrees in Communications and Political Science from Boston University. Unity currently resides in New York City.

Howard Krein

Howard Krein, M.D., Ph.D. Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Howard Krein is Chief Medical Officer at OrganizedWisdom Health where he oversees the company's quality standards and physician review program. Dr. Krein is Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology: Head & Neck Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University and a founding partner and co-director of Jefferson's Facial Aesthetic and Reconstructive Center. He is part of an exclusive group of physicians with two doctorates, receiving his M.D. from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Krein completed internships in both Emergency Medicine and General Surgery, a residency in Otolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and a Fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Medical College of Virginia in Richmond Virginia. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's degree in Neuroscience from Rutgers University. Dr. Krein lives in Philadelphia, PA.

Scott Pearlman

Scott Pearlman, M.D. Medical Director

Dr. Scott Pearlman is Medical Director at OrganizedWisdom Health where he manages guide training, quality control and physician review standards. Dr. Pearlman is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and is a practicing Emergency Physician. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Rutgers College, Dr. Pearlman earned his M.D. at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed a combined residency training program at Christiana Care Health System in Newark, DE and is board-certified in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. In addition, Dr. Pearlman is a certified hypnotist with an interest in Integrative Medicine, smoking cessation and pain management. Dr. Pearlman lives in New York City.

Emily Lapkin

Emily Lapkin Vice President User Experience, Editorial Director

Emily joined OrganizedWisdom Health to serve as the company's Editorial Director. Emily has more than 13 years of media experience, and most recently worked as Editor-in-Chief of BabyZone.com. While there she re-architected and redesigned the site, introduced the most popular content in its history, and brought about a dramatic increase in audience engagement. She helped BabyZone sell to Kaboose Inc. for $22 million in 2006, and win the distinction of Webby Honoree in 2007. Before BabyZone, she was Director of Health & Wellness for iVillage.com. While at iVillage, she produced more than a dozen successful Community Challenges, launched the popular Symptom Solver tool, and helped her channels earn Forbes "Best of Web" recognition. Prior to iVillage, she worked with two web start-ups, served as the Editor-in-Chief of Health for Women, a Woman's Day Special Interest Publication, and was on the editorial staff of Living Fit and Buzz magazines. Her writing has been published in Glamour, Self, Shape, Fitness, Seventeen, Ladies Home Journal, and The Boston Globe Magazine. She is a co-author of 6 Weeks to Losing It for Good: An iVillage Solutions Book. She lives in Boston with her husband and daughter.

Daniel J. Feldman

Daniel J. Feldman Vice President Sales

Dan runs the sales and business development for OrganizedWisdom Health. Dan has more than a decade of experience building Internet businesses as an entrepreneur, consultant, and strategic planner. Dan worked previosuly with OrganizedWisdom founders Unity Stoakes and Steven Krein as co-founder and President of Promotions.com, a NASDAQ-traded global promotion and direct marketing technology company that was sold to iVillage Inc. (Nasdaq: IVIL) in 2002. Dan also managed Chakkalina, the company's Japanese subsidiary, which was acquired in 2001 and is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of iTX Corporation. Promotions.com was awarded to Deloitte & Touche's prestigious "Technology Fast 50." Promotions.com received approximately $100 million of private and public financing from an IPO led by Bear Stearns, Thomas Weisel Partners, ING Barings and Wit Capital. Dan graduated from George Washington University in 1992 and holds a bachelor's degree in international business. Dan Currently lives in Connecticut with his wife and two children.

Nicole Kinsey

Nicole Kinsey Product Development Manager

Nicole is Product Development Manager at OrganizedWisdom Health and is responsible for helping ensure the quality standards set by our physician review board get implemented on every WisdomCard. Nicole manages the OrganizedWisdom Guide program and manages the WisdomCard creation and review process, in addition to serving as mentor to both new contributing Guides and the full-time Guide and Reviewer staff. Nicole brings years of Web search and online community expertise to OrganizedWisdom Health, along with an extensive understanding of the health field and a wide knowledge of content and design. Before joining OrganizedWisdom, she was a Web programmer, online consultant and event producer. She holds a bachelor's degree in animal science with a minor in computer information systems, competes in endurance rides with her Arabian horses, and lives in Washington state with her husband.

Zach Mayberry

Zach Mayberry User Experience Designer

Zach is lead Web Designer at OrganizedWisdom Health. Zach is responsible for improving site user experience, implementing clean and intuitive design and optimizing the site to make it easier for people to use. Previously, he founded Spendor Media, a small web design firm specializing in clean functional design. Zach resides in St. Louis, MO.

Tara Salamone

Tara Salamone Assistant Producer

Tara is a full-time health guide and researcher at OrganizedWisdom Health. Tara creates and reviews WisdomCards and mentors new contributing guides, helping ensure OrganizedWisdom's quality standards. Tara is an expert Web researcher, beginning her medical career in administration for physicians' offices specializing in internal/pulmonary medicine, orthodontics and pediatrics. She has also served as a health advocate and caregiver for people with disabilities, a role that brought her to a nuanced understanding of Web health search and online research.

Chris Miller

Chris Miller Assistant Producer

Chris is a full-time health guide and researcher at OrganizedWisdom Health. Chris is a former medical assistant with several years experience in Web search and online research. She came to OrganizedWisdom with extensive professional experience in health search, and has served as an advocate gathering credible health information for ill and disabled people in her community.

Amy Sandhu

Amy Sandhu Assistant Producer

Amy is a full-time health guide and researcher at OrganizedWisdom Health. Amy has served as a patient advocate for years and began gathering health expertise in her teens, volunteering with children with disabilities. Amy studied radiology and health in college and has worked in healthcare delivering respite care for families of children with disabilities and working with geriatric and disabled patients, including people with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Amy's interest in health took a different turn with the birth of her son, who has developmental delays, and she currently serves as his patient advocate. Prior to OrganizedWisdom, Amy was a Web researcher and master guide at ChaCha.com.

Jennifer McCabe Gorman

Jennifer S. McCabeChief Patient Advocate

Jen joined OrganizedWisdom Health to serve as the company's Chief Patient Advocate. Her role encompasses strategic communication and content development activities including using social media to better serve consumers' need for useful healthcare information and resources. Jen is an active blogger, tweeter, participant and advocate in numerous online health and medical communities. She is author of the Health Management Rx Blog, and has contributed to The Health Care Blog (THCB) and Healthcentral.com. Jen is a co-founder of Nexthealth, a health communications/innovation collaborative based in the Netherlands. Nexthealth's mission is to inject patient-centric innovation into global healthcare research, planning, process design, and delivery. Jen has worked for numerous health-related charities and organizations: As an analyst, volunteer manager, and speaker liaison for The Health 2.0 Conference run by Matthew Holt and Indu Subaiya and as Associate Administrator at Christ House, performing operational functions for the Washington D.C.-area 33-bed nonprofit medical facility. She also served as analyst and director during the start-up phase at The Hanover Research Council, closing the firm's first multi-year membership and cultivating HRCs early development in the hospital/healthcare vertical. Jen is former Vice Chair, Board of Directors, for Baltimore-based MEDBANK of Maryland, Inc., an NFP providing free prescription medications to 35,000 residents via pharmaceutical firms' patient assistance programs (PAPs). She received her B.A. in literature with a minor in women, gender and sexuality studies from St. Mary's College of Maryland, and graduated magna cum laude. Jen continues to research the compilation and sharing of experiential personal health narratives and the connection of patients and providers via the semantic web.

Wayne is a Managing Partner of ETF Venture Funds, the lead investor in OrganizedWisdom Health. Since 2000, under Wayne’s direction, ETF Venture Funds has invested in several successful companies such as SeamlessWeb (sold to ARAMARK), Take Care Health Systems (sold to Walgreens), NutriSystem (NTRI), ranked by Forbes as the best small company in the United States, Philadelphia Media Holdings (owner of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News and philly.com). Wayne was named by Philadelphia Magazine as one of "Philly's People to Watch: one of 76 fascinating people whose moves, ideas, innovations and boldness will shape -- and change -- our lives over the next decade." The Philadelphia Business Journal also recognized Wayne as one of the region's emerging leaders. Wayne was selected as one of the Philadelphia region's “40 Under 40” young business leaders and in 2000 he received PhillyTech Magazine’s “30 under 30” award. Jason is a Board Member and investor in OrganizedWisdom Health. Jason is co-founder and CEO of SeamlessWeb (www.seamlessweb.com), an Internet-based provider of food and related services to businesses, their customers, and their employees, which was acquired by ARAMARK in 2006. SeamlessWeb earned the number one ranking among Internet-based services in the 2005 Deloitte Technology Fast 500, a list of the fastest-growing technology companies in North America. It was also named among the fastest-growing private companies in the United States by Inc. magazine in 2004 and 2005. Jason is a serial entrepreneur who has built several successful businesses. He was named to Crain's New York Business Prestigieous 40 under 40 list in 2007.

Esther is both an investor in and serves on the Board of Advisers of OrganizedWisdom Health. A long-time catalyst of start-ups in information technology, Esther is one of the best known and most respected names in high-tech. Since the early 1980s, she's been closely involved in dozens of major development in computing technology and her insights have been a great guide to the future of technology innovations and their impact on business, society and individuals. Esther's primary activity is investing in start-ups like OrganizedWisdom and guiding them as a board member. She specializes in online services and, more recently, IT and healthcare/genetics, and space travel. Esther is an early investor and sometime board member of numerous successful technology companies including 23andMe, Medstory (which was acquired by Microsoft), PatientsLikeMe, Meetup, and Flickr and Del.icio.us (which both were acquired by Yahoo!) just to name a few. Esther is also on the board of advisers of the Health 2.0 Conference.

Linda Holliday

Linda Holliday Health Visionary

Linda Holliday is both an investor and serves on the Board of Advisers of OrganizedWisdom Health. Linda is the founder of Medical Broadcasting Company (MBC), one of the largest healthcare interactive marketing agencies in the country before it was acquired by Digitas in 2006 and renamed Digitas Health. Linda is widely considered one of the country's foremost experts on interactive marketing for healthcare and pharmaceutical companies.

Jeff Stewart

Jeff is both an investor and serves on the Board of Advisers of OrganizedWisdom Health. Jeff is a serial entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of Urgent Career. Previously, Jeff has built several successful companies including Mimeo and Square Earth.
