What Makes a Great WisdomCard?

Our Quality Standards

You are helping people find the very best health wisdom and resources on the Web. Because this mission is so important, we have set the highest standards for how we accept and approve WisdomCards. Each WisdomCard on OrganizedWisdom must be exceptionally useful, link to credible resources, and be safe before it will be approved and published on OrganizedWisdom.

Our goal is to be completely transparent with how our process works. After you submit a WisdomCard for approval it will be reviewed by our editors and physician review team. It will either be accepted, or it will be returned so you can make improvements. If your card is returned, pay attention to the reviewer's feedback, but also refer to these instructions and to the cards published on OrganizedWisdom to see that you're turning in a product that matches the quality of the published cards.

The following criteria are used in approving WisdomCards:

1) The WisdomCard contains NO “Spam Sites”.

2) Content on the WisdomCard is properly spelled and formatted. (Proofread your work!)

3) Each link is categorized in the correct sub-section of the WisdomCard. (i.e. Each link answers the specific question of the sub-section in which it is listed). Also, make sure personal stories and user-generated content are in the "Wisdom" section.

4) The “Guide Note” is accurate, clear and well-written.

5) The WisdomCard features at least 1 “Guide Favorite” icon.

6) The WisdomCard links to relevant pages on eMedicine.com and/or UpToDate.com if available.

7) Each section of the WisdomCard contains 5 great links whenever possible. Please note, we are not looking for "link-fillers" so if there really are not enough quality links for a section then it is better to have fewer great links.

8) No link-filler (see above).

9) The WisdomCard includes at least 30 to 50 Quality Links. If the WisdomCard contains fewer links, please include an explanation with your submission (for example, not enough great links on this topic yet).

10) The WisdomCard includes 5 great, useful resources in the OrganizedWisdom Top 5. Take great care in curating this list. We want to guide people to only the very best links and rank them in order!

11) The sites we link to indicate the source and the qualifications of their authors.

12) The sites linked indicate the date when the information was written, last modified or updated.

13) The linked sites provide contact details for visitors who seek further information or support.

14) Link text clearly indicates when WisdomCards link to non-authoritative resources such as personal blogs, forums, and YouTube videos.

15) Privacy: the WisdomCard only links to resources/sites that respect the privacy and confidentiality of personal data submitted to the site by the visitor. If a site collects Personal Identifiable Information (PII) than the site must have a privacy policy.

16) Transparency: the source/author/point of view is clear for any site or resource that makes claims relating to the benefits/performance of a specific treatment, commercial product or service.

17) WisdomCard links to sites/resources that clearly identify sponsors, including the identities of commercial and non-commercial organizations that have contributed funding, services or material for the site.

18) Sites/Resources clearly distinguish between editorial and advertising content.

19) Sites/Resources that include advertising or sponsors clearly state their advertising/sponsorship policy.

20) The site/resource is current/up-to-date. Should a WisdomCard link to old information the “Warning” icon should be used to indicate it as such.

21) Controversial, shocking, or obscene information is identified with a “Warning” icon.

22) All of the links on the WisdomCard are useful/helpful and the WisdomCard as a whole is useful/helpful/comprehensive. (Would you send a friend or professional to this WisdomCard and each and every link on the WisdomCard if they needed information on the topic?)

23) We consider Google, Mahalo and Healia to be gold standards, so check to make sure each WisdomCard is as good or better than a similar search on each of those resources.
