Our Policy for Updating WisdomCards

Updating our library of WisdomCards is essential to maintaining the highest quality of our service. We want people to get up to date content, working links, and access to new great resources.

Creating WisdomCards takes great skill and expertise. So does updating them. Luckily our technology helps us identify broken links, and our community also helps by recommending new great resources on WisdomCards. But we also take special care to constantly update and maintain our WisdomCards. Each WisdomCard is managed by one of our Full Time Guides, and we regularly make updates. And it is part of our process to update and review every new link that gets recommended to each WisdomCard.

In addition, to checking for errors and adding new links, our expert guides research and add fresh content to make each WisdomCard better.

Here are some specifics about what we focus on maintaining when we update a WisdomCard:

1. We check for updated information. We add missing sections to the templates like the News section if it hasn't already been included. We check PubMed and Clinical Trials and include them if appropriate. We review the Useful Resources page and add new links from other great sites. We also, check the recommended links section to determine if there are suggested links that would be great additions to one of the main sections higher up on the WisdomCard.

2. We expand our information. We check if a Quick Wisdom topic would be better as a full length WisdomCard.

3. We review the links to make sure they are still working and go to the correct place.

4. We improve the Guide Note. Each time we update a WisdomCard we write additional facts and make sure the content is informative, engaging, and accurate. Here's our procedure for Guide Notes.

5. We're adding Fast Facts. We're adding a new section to our Guide Notes called Fast Facts and listing 3-5 specific and verified facts about the topic. Review our new procedure for including Fasts Facts here.

6. We proofread and fix any errors.

7. We check Related WisdomCards and add any relevant new links. If any of the related cards are missing, we create templates for them so they can be claimed and worked on. We make sure that the most relevant (or best) related WisdomCards are listed first; and in most cases we include no more than 10 related WisdomCards.

8. We double check redirects and add any that appear to be missing.
