Research Notes on Optimal Diet for Fibromyalgia
Although research on diet and fibromyalgia has not been conclusive there are indications that certain foods may have either a positive or a negative effect on the way a person feels.1 It is also believed that a healthy diet might help to reduce fatigue and improve the immune system.2 Fibromyalgia is a condition that includes a variety of symptoms such as muscle and joint pain along with fatigue.3

- Up to six million Americans may suffer from fibromyalgia.4
- It is recommended that foods such as artificial sweeteners containing aspartame, alcohol, coffee, and high-fat dairy foods be avoided.1
- Eight glasses of water a day can be beneficial.1
- A diet low in fat and high in antioxidants may boost energy and reduce fatigue.1
