Research Notes on Ophthalmia


Also referred to as ophthalmitis, Ophthalmia is an eye inflammation. There are different types of opthalmitis, Sympathetic ophthalmia is an inflammation in both of the eyes which occurs after trauma in one eye. Ophthalmia neonatorum is a form of bacterial conjunctivitis which is contracted by newborns during delivery. Actinic conjunctivitis is contracted from prolonged exposure to Actinic (ultraviolet) rays.
