Research Notes on Obesity in Youth Linked to Cancer
A recent study suggests that people who are overweight in their teens or obese in their 20s and early 30s have a higher risk of developing pancreatic cancer. Those who were obese as young adults had more than double the risk of developing this cancer as adults who have never been obese. These findings magnify the importance of weight control at a young age.1
Fast Facts:
- Over 1,500 participants were involved in this study.2
- Patients overweight from age 14 to 39 were 67% more likely to develop prostate cancer.2
- This study is published in The Journal of the American Medical Association.
