The levels of overweight and obese people in the United States have reached epidemic proportions. Obesity has been linked to a large increase in the risk of postmenopausal breast cancer. This risk is increased with high body weight and may be decreased as obesity is reduced. Preventing obesity can potentially contribute to lower levels of breast cancer risk.
