Research Notes on Norovirus and Oysters


Norovirus causes gastroenteritis or more commonly known as stomach flu. Consumption of raw or insufficiently steamed oysters infected with the norovirus has been found to cause cases of food-borne illnesses. It is encouraged to avoid eating raw oysters that may have been harvested in contaminated waters.
