Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a condition that causes chronic joint inflammation. RA cannot be cured and the goal of treatment is to reduce the symptoms and alleviate pain. There are three new medications that have been approved by the FDA that address the symptoms associated with RA. These are rituximab, abatacept and tocilizumab.
