Research Notes on New Lupus Drug Shows Promise


Benlysta, the new lupus medication being produced by Human Genome Science and GlaxoSmithKline, is slated to be sent for approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the first half of 2010. In clinical trials, Benlysta has shown to significantly improve lupus symptoms when used in high doses. If approved, Benlysta may be the first new drug treatment for lupus in over 40 years.1
