Nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF), also referred to as Nephrogenic fibrosing dermopathy, is a rare but serious syndrome that involves fibrosis of the skin, eyes, joints, and organs.1 It has no genetic basis, and appears to be associated with exposure to gadolinium, which is often used as a contrast substance for MRIs given to patients with severe kidney failure.1
