Research Notes on Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus Treatment
Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus is usually treated through regular consumption of water in order to stay hydrated.1 Fluid intake is usually regulated based on urine output.2 Some medications are helpful for people with nephrogenic diabetes insipidus including hydrochlorothiazide and indomethacin.1

- Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus can be caused by genetics in males or by medications like lithium, demeclocycline, and aminoglycosides.3
- It is important for people with nephrogenic diabetes insipidus to have adequate water supply with them at all times.3
- Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus can also be acquired through blockages in the urinary tract, high levels of calcium, or low levels of potassium.2
