Research Notes on Nephrocalcinosis


Nephrocalcinosis, formerly known as Albright's Calcinosis, is a condition where there is an increase in the calcium content of the kidneys. This is caused by several conditions such as renal tubular acidosis, hypercalcemia, renal cortical necrosis and tuberculosis. The goal of treatment for nephrocalcinosis includes treatment of the underlying condition that is causing the increased calcium deposition and prevention of further complications.
