High cholesterol can be treated naturally by simply changing your diet. Soluble fiber reduces cholesterol absorption and can be found in oatmeal, apples, and barley. Saturated fats, which are known to increase cholesterol, can be replaced by eating nuts. Eating two ounces of walnuts or almonds everyday can reduce cholesterol about 12%. Omega-3 fatty acids and olive oil are also helpful in lowering cholesterol.1

- Trans fats are not recommended because they raise LDL and lower HDL.1
- For best results, less than 10% of calories consumed each day should come from saturated fats.1
- Foods containing plant sterols can help reduce LDL levels by more than 10%.1
