Research Notes on Naprosyn Dosage
The dose of Naprosyn recommended by a physician can vary depending on the condition being treated. When treating generalized pain, an initial dosage of 500 mg, and then 250 mg taken every six to eight hours is typically recommended. When treating rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, or ankylosing spondylitis, Naprosyn is prescribed in various strengths taken twice daily. Gout symptoms are generally treated with 750 mg initially, and then 250 mg taken every eight hours as needed.1

- The maximum daily dosage of Naprosyn will depend on what condition is being treated, as well. If the maximum dosage recommended by the physician does not control pain symptoms, other pain medications may be necessary.2
- Naprosyn should be taken with a full glass of water, and may be taken with food or milk if stomach upset occurs.2
- Naprosyn is a brand name of the generic medication naproxen.2
