Namenda is a brand name for the drug memantine. Namenda is in a class of drugs called NMDA receptor antagonists, which are used in the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. Namenda operates by protecting the brain's nerve cells against excessive amounts of glutamate in the brain.
