Research Notes on Myelopathy
Myelopathy is a dysfunction that effects the spinal cord region.1 The cause of myelopathy can be disease, genetic or spinal cord injuries.2 Spinal stenosis, arthritis and herniated discs are the general causes of myelopathy.3

- Common symptoms: neck or back pain, problems with balance, numbness in the extremities, difficulty with fine movement and involuntary reflexes (spasms).4
- Conservative treatment: medication, acupuncture and physical therapy.4
- Surgical treatment includes: laminectomy and spinal fusion.4
