Being infected with mumps during pregnancy can cause many complications.1 Most women are immune to mumps because they were vaccinated against it or developed an immunity from contracting it earlier in life.1 Miscarriage rates are as high as 27% if the woman is infected during the first trimester.1
Fast Facts:
- There is no treatment for mumps.1
- The vaccination for mumps is not given during pregnancy.1
- Symptoms of the mumps are similar to an upper respiratory infection.1
