Research Notes on Morquio Syndrome
Morquio's syndrome (referred to as mucopolysaccharidosis IV or Morquio's) is an autosomal recessive mucopolysaccharide storage disease, usually inherited. It is a relatively rare dwarfism with serious consequences. - Morquio, a pediatrician in Uruguay; and Brailsford, a radiologist in England, simultaneously described cases in 1929 of what is now known as Morquio syndrome.1
- Contact sports should be avoided to prevent trauma or damage to the spine.1
