Research Notes on Mood Disorder Questionnaire
The Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ) is a screening tool used to help diagnose bipolar disorder. The MDQ consists of 13 questions which assess a person's symptoms and functional impairment. It can assist a health care provider in identifying a patient likely to have manic depression.1
Fast Facts:
- The test is not appropriate for those under the age of 18.2
- People under age 18 with bipolar symptoms should speak to their parents or guardians about seeing a physician for a complete evaluation.2
- A research study concluded that the MDQ is an effective and useful screening instrument for bipolar spectrum disorder.3
- You can take an assessment on OrganizedWisdom that is based on the MDQ: Am I Bipolar?
