Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) is a rheumatic disease that has characteristics similar to lupus, polymyosistis or dermatomyositis, scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis. Patients with MCTD can have overlap syndromes that involve any combination of the connective tissue diseases, making it difficult to diagnose at onset.
