Research Notes on Mitoxantrone and Pregnancy
The use of mitoxantrone during pregnancy is not recommended.1 There is a risk of your child having a birth defect if mitoxantrone is used during pregnancy.2 In animal studies, there was evidence of a slow in fetal growth due to mitoxantrone.2 Mitoxantrone has been classified as a Pregnancy Category D drug by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.1

- Mitoxantrone is used to treat certain types of cancer, including but not limited to breast cancer, acute myeloid leukemia, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.3
- Mitoxantrone has been approved to reduce the frequency of relapses in people with multiple sclerosis.3
- Researchers also observed that pregnant animals given mitoxantrone experienced premature labor.1
