Research Notes on Minocin Dosage
The standard dosing regimen of Minocin is 200 mg initially, followed by 100 mg every 12 hours. In some cases, a physician may recommend more frequent doses of 50 mg capsules taken up to four times a day. Children over the age of eight may be prescribed Minocin according to a dosage of 2 mg per 2.2 kilograms of body weight.1
Fast Facts:
- Minocin should be taken with a full glass of water. Milk may interfere with the body's ability to absorb Minocin.2
- The entire prescription of Minocin should be finished, even if the patient is feeling much better.2
- Minocin is the brand name of the generic medication minocycline, an antibiotic that is sometimes recommended in the treatment of skin infections, urinary tract infection, bronchitis, pneumonia, and other bacterial infections.2
