Research Notes on Dairy Food Allergy
Dairy allergies occur when the body's immune system reacts to milk proteins that it mistakes as being harmful. The different kinds of reactions to a milk allergy are hives, eczema, rash, swelling of the lips, mouth, throat, tongue or face, abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, cramps, vomiting, and respiratory problems like a runny nose, sneezing, watery and/or itchy eyes, coughing, wheezing, and trouble breathing. The most severe reaction is anaphylactic shock and death.
