Research Notes on Migraines with Dizziness
Dizziness that is associated with a migraine headache is a known as migraine associated vertigo (MAV). This type of headache is also called a vestibular migraine.1 Up to forty-two percent of migraine suffers report episodes of dizziness.2
Fast Facts:
- Dizziness (vertigo) can be an aura of a migraine that starts about hour before a migraine and continues on once the headache starts.3
- Migraines associated with dizziness can sometimes be treated by avoiding such foods as chocolate, cheese, alcohol, and foods with MSG.4
- Pop star Janet Jackson suffers from vestibular migraines.5
