Reports indicate Michael Jackson may have been addicted to the narcotic drug OxyContin. It contains oxycodone and is available by prescription for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. Resources state this powerful narcotic was part of Jackson's daily regimen.1 The combination of OxyContin and Demerol may cause respiratory depression leading to cardiac arrest. Speculation suggests this powerful combination of drugs may be a contributing cause of his death on June 25, 2009. Toxicology reports are not scheduled to be released for several more weeks.2
