Research Notes on Miami Children's Hospital
Miami Children's Hospital is an exclusive 289-bed facility for children located in Miami, Florida. It is a world-renowned center for children with over 40 pediatric specialties and subspecialties. The hospital is also the home of Florida's only free-standing pediatric trauma center. It is the only licensed specialty hospital in South Florida that is exclusively for children.1
Fast Facts:
- Several specialty programs -- (cardiology/cardiovascular surgery, neonatology, and neurology/neurosurgery) -- offered by the hospital ranked among the best in the nation in 2008 by U.S. News & World Report.1
- The MCH Dan Marino Center was honored in the "Best of the Best Services for Special Needs" category in 2008.1
- In 2008, the hospital was recognized among the "Best of the Best Pediatric Hospitals" by South Florida Parenting magazine.1
- It received the "Magnet" designation, which is the nursing profession's highest institutional honor, from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).1
- MCH is home to the largest hospital-based pediatric residency program in the southeastern United States.1
- MCH offers four ambulatory care centers for pediatric outpatient services. These facilities are located in Doral, Miami Lakes, Palmetto Bay, and Weston. A fifth location in West Kendall is set to open soon.1
