Metoclopramide is the generic name for the drug Reglan. Metoclopramide is primarily used to treat nausea and vomiting, and to assist in gastric emptying in people with gastroparesis.

Fast Facts:

  • Drug reactions include: restlessness, drowsiness, dizziness, lassitude, and/or dystonic reactions
  • These reactions are usually treated treated with diphenhydramine (benadryl), benztropine or procyclidine
  • Side effects include drowsiness, restlessness, fatigue, constipation or diarrhea
  • If you start to experience involuntary movements of the limbs or eyes, spasm of the neck, face, and jaw muscles and change in mood, seek medical attention immediately
