Research Notes on Methamphetamine Uses
Methamphetamine or meth, is a stimulant that affects the central nervous system. Some of the uses of Methamphetamine are, increased alertness and concentration and wakefulness. People use Meth to help them stay awake for hours or days at a time. Some people use meth to help them diet, because it decreases the need for food or water or sleep. Meth can lead to extreme emotions and intense paranoia, a state of high agitation, and can sometimes lead to violent behavior.1See the Methamphetamine WisdomCard.

- In rare cases, doctors can prescribe low doses of methamphetamine to treat narcolepsy and attention deficit disorder.2
- Methamphetamines studies have shown that if used during pregnancy can cause irreversible brain damage to the baby while in the womb.3
