Research Notes on Methamphetamine Addiction
Methamphetamine addiction and abuse leads to very serious medical, social and psychological problems. It is a highly addictive stimulant that affects the central nervous system.1 The methamphetamine user can build up a tolerance quickly, requiring larger amounts to curve their cravings for the drug.2

- After smoking or injection, the user experiences an intense sensation, called a "rush" or "flash.3
- The euphoric effects of methamphetamine almost always lead to addiction4
- It is important for an individual to enter a detox center to help cope with the side effects of methamphetamine withdrawal4
