Research Notes on Metadate
Metadate (methylphenidate) is prescribed for people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Metadate is a stimulant that has a calming effect which reduces the symptoms of ADHD.1 Possible side effects of taking Metadate include headache, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain.2 In some children, there is a small risk of Metadate use resulting in a temporary slow in growth rate.1
Fast Facts:
- Metadate should not be used for people who are experiencing anxiety or tension.2
- Metadate should be taken 30-45 minutes before meals.2
- Metadate has also been prescribed to treat narcolepsy in adults.1
