Research Notes on Menopause and Hormone Therapy
During menopause the ovaries decrease in producing the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Hormone Replacement Therapy is medication that replaces the hormones lost during menopause. There has been much controversy about hormone replacement due to it's side effects. The side effects can include a higher risk of heart disease, higher risk of breast cancer and higher risk of blood clots.
