Research Notes on Megestrol
Megestrol is used to stimulate the appetite in patients undergoing some types of chemotherapy, AIDS patients, and those with an enlarged prostate. It is a synthetic form of progesterone that is naturally occuring in the body.
Fast Facts:
- Should only be used under close physician supervision.
- Is sold under brand names of Megace and Megace ES.
- Available in tablet, suspension (liquid) and concentrated suspension.
