Research Notes on Mastitis
Mastitis is an infection of the breast tissue causing pain, swelling and redness of the breast. Mastitis most commonly affects women who are breastfeeding, although in very rare circumstances this condition can occur outside of breastfeeding. Often, mastitis occurs within the first six weeks postpartum. In some cases, mastitis occurs later during breastfeeding.
