Research Notes on Marathon Training
According to Greek legend, a Greek soldier was sent from the town of Marathon to Athens with the message that the Persians had been defeated. He ran the entire distance without stopping -- only to collapse dead after delivering his message. The modern-day marathon distance is based on the distance that soldier ran, but a good training schedule will keep you alive and well after your first marathon.
