Job stress comes in many different forms and affects your body in various ways.1 Stress in the workplace has a negative impact on employees and employers as it creates emotional, financial and safety issues, thus it is important that it is managed well.2 Because stress at work is so common, finding a low-stress job may be difficult or impossible for many people so it is best to adopt effective strategies that would reduce stress at work.3

- Signs of stress include headaches, sleep disturbances, difficulty concentrating, short temper, upset stomach, job dissatisfaction and low morale.4
- Job related stress can also lead to erratic eating habits and not enough exercise, resulting in weight problems, high blood pressure, and elevated cholesterol levels.5
- A survey found that nurses, teachers, managers and professionals tend to have the most stressful jobs.6
- Businesses can lower and prevent job stress through stress management programs and organizational changes that will improve working conditions.2
