Research Notes on Madarosis
Madarosis is the loss of the eyebrows or eyelashes. It can also be a sign or precursor of a systematic disease.1 Some of the more serious causes may be eye trauma, eyelid infections or cancer of the eyelid.2
Fast Facts:
- Loss of eyelashes is also known as milphosis.1
- Consult a doctor if you begin to notice a loss of eyelashes.3
- Avoiding waterproof mascaras and changing the way you apply your makeup may help reduce hair loss.3
- There is no surgical procedure to implant eyelashes.2
