Research Notes on Macromastia
Macromastia is considered a rare condition that results in either one or both breasts growing abnormally large. Macromastia usually occurs during hormonal changes in the life cycle, such as puberty, birth, and pregnancy. Breast reduction surgery can be performed to correct macromastia.1

- Less than 200,000 people in the US experience macromastia each year.1
- The only symptom of macromastia is abnormally large breasts.1
- Breast reduction surgery removes excess breast tissue and breast skin.2
- Breast reduction surgery results in smaller, more youthful looking breasts.2
