MRI

An MRI -- magnetic resonance imaging -- is a radiology technique used to see body structures. It provides detailed images of the body in any plane, making it especially useful in musculoskeletal, oncological, cardiovascular, and neurological imaging.

Fast Facts:

  • Unlike a CT scan, an MRI uses magnetic field rather than radiation.
  • The image produced by an MRI is quite detailed.
  • An MRI can be used as an extremely accurate method of disease detection throughout the body.
