Lysinuric protein intolerance (LPI) is a genetic (hereditary) disorder that results from the human body's inability to break down and utilize certain protein building blocks such as lysine, arginine, and ornithine. People with LPI experience nausea and vomiting after eating protein-rich foods. Treatment includes dietary control and citrulline supplementation.
