Research Notes on Lupus in Men
While lupus typically affects women, it sometimes affects men as well. Men often develop either discoid lupus or drug-induced lupus. Discoid lupus causes reddened and scaled patches of skin. Certain hypertension and heart disease medications can cause drug-induced lupus.1

- Men with lupus may feel embarrassed by having what is typically a "woman's disease."1
