Research Notes on Lupus Rash Pictures
Many people that have lupus develop skin rashes. These rashes can be important in diagnosing this disease. The rash that appears is a butterfly-shaped rash called a malar rash which covers the cheeks and bridge of the nose.1

- Sunlight can make the rash worse.2
- The malar rash of lupus is red or purplish and mildly scaly.3
- Malar rash is treated with systemic corticosteroids (prednisone).4
