The liver is the largest organ and largest gland in the human body.1 It weighs approximately three pounds.2 Functions of the liver include manufacturing proteins, metabolizing and storing carbohydrates, forming and secreting bile, and detoxifying the body.3

- Symptoms of liver diseases include a yellowing of the skin, unusual bleeding, edema and fatigue.4
