Research Notes on Light Therapy and Mood
It is believed that light affects the mood of a person. The production of serotonin (a brain chemical that affects mood) during the winter months may be altered that perhaps may result in mood changes. Light therapy or phototherapy consists of exposure to artificial light to simulate natural light in persons with mood problems. This therapy has shown to be effective in people with mood disorders and it is the main treatment method of people suffering from seasonal affective disorder.
