Research Notes on Light Therapy
Light therapy is exposure to daylight or wavelengths of light for a prescribed amount of time. This may be performed using lasers, LEDs, fluorescent lamps, dichroic lamps or very bright, full-spectrum lights. It used in the treatment of acne, seasonal affective disorder, psoriasis, and depression.1

- When having light therapy you will be seated in or near a light box.2
- Colored light therapy is another form of light therapy that claims to help with sleep disorders, shoulder pain, diabetes, impotence, and allergies.3
- Those with certain eye disorders and sensitive skin should consult their health care provider before starting any type of light therapy.4
