Research Notes on Laparoscopy vs. Surgical Prostatectomy
Prostatectomy refers to the surgical removal of all or part of the prostate gland due to prostate cancer. There are several methods of performing the surgery.
Fast Facts:
- Unlike the traditional surgery, a laparoscopic radical prostatectomy does not make a large incision.
- There is very little bleeding with a laparoscopic surgery.
- Recovery times are generally quicker, with less risk of complications if laparoscopy is used rather than traditional open surgery.
