Research Notes on Labia Piercing
Labia piercing is a type of female genital piercing. It is one of the more common and simpler genital piercings performed on women.1 Both the inner and outer labia can be pierced. Labia piercings can be performed to enhance sexual activities (labia minora) or as a form of chastity (labia majora).2
Fast Facts:
- Labia majora piercings heal more slowly than labia minora piercings.1
- After a labia piercing, there must be no sexual contact without a latex barrier for six months, and no sexual intercourse at all for two to four weeks.2
- Labia piercings can easily be aggravated by tight clothing and sweat.
